Lymphedema, resulting from the treatment for breast cancer, makes up a large percentage of the patients seen at Lymflo Therapies. Thus, we are pleased to participate in community events that bring awareness to breast cancer research and education.

Casting for Recovery Retreat

The Casting for Recovery Retreat was held this past August at Green River Preserve in Cedar Mountain, NC. Joanna and Carol were the medical advisors for the weekend retreat and provided a question and answer session on lymphedema. Carol also lead the group in warm-up exercises prior to fishing. There were 14 participants that were in various stages of treatment for Breast Cancer. Some women had experience fly fishing, and many had none. They even learned how to tie their own flies. It was a wonderful weekend of fun, fellowship, support for one another, and most learned how to fly fish.
